In 1967 I asked if there was any possibility of forming a WI around Linby & Hucknall.  The research meeting was held at my house on Ethel Avenue and it was all systems GO!  I went around the Vaughan Estate and Papplewick Lane with leaflets thinking it would be a Linby WI but at the first meeting when we had 85 visitors and it was meeting at the Hucknall Church Hall we became Leenside (Hucknall) WI.
